South West Division is in a beautiful rural setting with its many splendid Medieval churches and timber and thatched buildings. In this wonderful setting Guiding is thriving.
South West Division covers from Haverhill to Hadleigh and is split into five Districts; Haverhill, Chadbrook, Sudbury, Hadleigh and New England.
Haverhill has its own Scout and Guide headquarters and land which was donated by the Gurten family who were connected to the weaving industry. There are camping facilities in the grounds.
Chadbrook has groups in Acton, Long Melford and Glemsfrod. Long Melford has its own Scout and Guide headquarters.
Sudbury has groups in Bures, Great Cornard and Nayland. Bures have their own Scout and Guide headquarters with camping facilities. They also have the benefit of being by the river for water activities.
Hadleigh has groups in Boxford and Hadleigh. Boxford has its own Scout and Guide headquarters situated in seven acres of ground. It has facilities for canoeing, grass sledging, abseiling, an assault course and more.
New England has groups in Steeple Bumpstead, Clare, Cavendish and Kedington.
Outdoor activities are very much on the programme in South West Division with camping and pack holidays high on the agenda. Other District and Division activities are organized for the girls and also the Guiders. All units are very active and welcome new girls as well as leaders.
