Sea Rangers 1950
This photograph shows a group of Suffolk Sea Rangers from SRS Undaunted (Beccles) and SRS Kimberley (Ipswich) pulling the carriage containing the World Chief Guide, Lady Baden-Powell, into the Arena at Shrubland Park County Rally. Over 2,000 Guides and Rangers attended the Rally, in June 1950, the first one since the War, and the first visit to Suffolk by Lady Baden-Powell for 7 years. Admission for the day was 1 shilling (5p) but Guides and Scouts in uniform were admitted free.
Lady Baden-Powell carried with her the East Anglian Message of Good Will to be handed to it’s next bearer on it’s way to the 13th World Conference in Oxford. The Chief Guide then signed the Log Book as bearer for Suffolk.
